How are our costs to build a house calculated?

Our costs are carefully calculated using real-life examples of similar homes designed by our Curated team. We find that this allows us to be as accurate as possible on the costs incurred, but of course, there will occasionally be slight discrepancies (for example, if the price of a specific material rises due to inflation or other means).

Sometimes, things outside of our control such as market demand, unexpected housing costs and local planning conditions can cause financial complexities. Please be assured that we outline our assistance in these scenarios in our Terms and Conditions.

Why should I trust Curated?

Curated was formed by a team of young, hungry architects and interior designers who have a passion for crafting beautiful, yet affordable, building plans for sale. Every member of our team is qualified by their respective industry body – in the case of our architects, this is the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP), and adheres to the strict rules and guidelines governing its members.

Is Curated right for me?

The staff at Curated live, breathe, and love architectural design. We’re always on the lookout for a new townhouse development or a family home restoration that provides just the right amount of space for a young family and their growing needs. If you want a house that feels like a home, Curated are the people for you.

Unlike other architects, we provide an exclusive online service that allows you to purchase a digital design from us and then liaise with us to make any amendments necessary. We do not work with the builder in charge of the project, only you, because after all, you’re the one that’s going to be living in your home after it’s built. We like to think of our customers as independent and ‘free-range’, trusting their own design conscience, but needing a little guidance along the way to succeed in their task of building their perfect home. Would it be possible to adjust a design to suit my needs?

Yep, that’s what we’re here for. With our Gold and Platinum packages, we offer adjustments on our designs to make them work for your family. Our Gold package allows two non-footprint edits and an architect-led video call to discuss your design needs. You’ll also be able to chat with an interior designer to best plan your space.

I’ve got my design. What next?

Design sorted? Excellent! Next up you’ll need to contact us for any design amendments if you’ve purchased the Gold package. But if you’re happy with your design, it’s building time.

Be sure to take the time to research – and interview – suitable builders. Building a home is an expensive project, so you want to be sure you’ve got the right builder on board to provide you with the best results you can get.
